Oil Pump

The lubricating oil pump is a variable displacement pump located at the rear of the engine and mounted with four screws to the rear main bearing cap. The lubricating oil pump is driven by a gear directly from the crankshaft gear. The oil control valve regulates the pressure flow to the engine based on the ECM command. The oil pump has a rotor, a control ring and a spring. Based on the oil control valve's closure or open, the pressure difference will counteract the spring and result in varying pressures developed inside the pump. The oil pump has two ports: one is the high-pressure port and other one is the regulation port. The oil pressure is regulated with the help of the pressure feed back to the oil pump and the oil pressure is regulated based on the engine requirement calculated by the ECM. The oil temperature, the engine torque requirement and the engine speed are the main inputs to the ECM for the oil control valve actuation. When the solenoid filter in the oil control valve is clogged, the complete oil control valve must be replaced. The oil cooler is screwed directly onto the cooling duct cover.

Function of oil pump

The oil is supplied directly from the outlet of the oil pump to the crankcase ventilation through the pipe. The safety valve (reduction valve) protects the oil pump, filter and cooler against excess pressure when the oil viscosity is too high. The suction system is in two parts and consists of a plastic pipe with a strainer from the oil pan and another pipe to the oil pump inlet. The plastic strainer is screwed to the stiffening frame. The metal pipe is sealed at the ends with rubber seals and is available in two lengths depending on the oil pan used and how it is fitted. The pressure pipe is steel and is attached to the cylinder block. A connecting pipe is attached underneath the reinforcement frame, connecting the oil filter housing and the main lubricating channel with the help of vertical cylinder block drillings.

When any electrical failure occurs on the oil control valve circuit, the vehicle enters fail-safe mode. The oil pump then functions as a standard pump and delivers the full oil pressure to the engine's lubricating parts.

Diesel particulate filter-DPF

Diesel particulate filter(DPF) greatly reduces the emission of soot particles, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. This system automatically burns away the soot particles trapped in the filter.
