In gel batteries the liquid electrolyte is mixed with silica, solidifying it to a gel mass, which is pasted onto the surface of the plates. Gel batteries are spill-proof and cannot be refilled.

Gel batteries allow more and deeper discharge cycles than flooded batteries. That makes them suitable for vehicles with high power consumption.

Gel batteries are the default for vehicles with DualEnergy Storage System (DESS), BATS-D, as they have excellent cycling abilities. Gel batteries have previously been used as an option for vehicles with Single Energy Storage System (SESS), BATS-S, but are not
recommended for use in extremely cold climates (temperatures below -25°C). Therefore, with the introduction of the AGM battery, the AGM battery will be the default high end option for SESS instead of GEL.

Diesel particulate filter-DPF

Diesel particulate filter(DPF) greatly reduces the emission of soot particles, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. This system automatically burns away the soot particles trapped in the filter.
