In AGM batteries, the space between the plates is filled with a layer of glass fibre that absorbs the electrolyte and holds it in place. AGM batteries are spill-proof and cannot be refilled.

AGM batteries allow more and deeper discharge cycles than flooded batteries. That makes them suitable for vehicles with high power consumption.

AGM batteries are the default for high energy consumption vehicles with Single Energy Storage System (SESS), as they have a good combination of cycling ability and startability.
